The Morton Plant Utilities / Emergency / Pre-Moves Package 1 Project is an upgrade and utility infrastructure project to dramatically improve and increase the Hospital’s available generator back-up power, as well to accommodate the addition of a future new patient tower at Morton Plant Hospital. Package 1 of this project is scheduled to be completed in 2015 with a total construction budget of $40,000,000.00. Borrell Electric provided medium voltage electrical distribution, electrical service upgrades, access control, fire alarm, nurse call, and telecommunications installation.
Borrell Electric Co., Inc. successfully completed the electrical service for the Shands Cancer Hospital in October 2009. The electrical contract value for this new facility was approximately $21,000,000.00 This installation included (4) 15 kV medium voltage metal clad double end unit substations, (10) automatic transfer switches, (12) operating rooms, (11) major medical equipment rooms, a pedestrian tunnel, and site lighting, and a complete underground normal and essential 15KV medium voltage distribution system. Borrell Electric overcame a compressed schedule with rigorous AHCA inspections, and successfully delivered the highest level of quality, on time, and safely. Borrell also saved the Shands Teaching Hospital and Clinics $2,500,000.00 through value engineering the conductor material (CU to AL) during the design phase of the project.
