Tampa General Hospital Expansion
The Tampa General Hospital Expansion is a 390,000 square foot expansion comprised of a four story addition with a new emergency department, operating rooms, women’s center, cardiovascular center, and ICU. The total contract value for the Tampa General Hospital Expansion is $120,000,000.00
Borrell Electric Co., Inc. successfully completed the electrical service for the Tampa General Hospital Expansion in August 2008. The electrical contract value for this new facility was approximately $13,000,000.00. It included a 15 kV double end, dual fed, unit substation, a single end essential substation, 8 new automatic transfer switches, 5 new 480V motor control centers. It also included a 15 kV underground site distribution loop to feed the hospital new essential substation. Throughout the course of the project Borrell collaborated with the hospital to facilitate sequenced utility outages to ensure that the hospital did not experience a power loss. Through design assist and expertise in similar, complicated projects, Borrell Electric was able to save the owner in excess of $800,000.00.
