University of Tampa West Kennedy Hall
West Kennedy Hall is a 193,128 square feet, eleven story dormitory at the University of Tampa. This $32,500,000.00 dormitory was the first at the University of Tampa delivered under the Integrated Project Delivery Method, and the first dorm to achieve a LEED Silver Certification. The dorm opened to the students in the Fall of 2013, and consisted of 530 new beds. The facility has common laundry and kitchen area on the first floor, a multi-purpose room for student organizations on the eleventh floor.
Borrell Electric was responsible for installing the electrical and fire alarm systems, and telecommunication/data systems raceway. Borrell’s contract value for this new facility was approximately $3,724,000.00. West Kennedy Hall has a 2500A electrical service with a 600kW stand by generator. All building lighting is controlled by the lighting control panel and/or occupancy sensors to optimize energy consumption. Borrell Electric Co., Inc. successfully completed West Kennedy Hall in September 2014.
